Then don't! Just relax and look. Don't force it, try to find a pattern and then look up the meanings. Einstein knew the mathematics and also knew patterns, and how to simplify it, so just explore a basic theme, then learn the math and expand around it.

Hey, magic follows physics. "Magic" is an application of natural laws, mostly those laws that deviate from Newtonian physics (I guess the Equestrian would be...Fignewtonian). Unicorns largely manipulate these forces...although those willing to train, or with an aptitude for study, or a talent for the skill, tend to manipulate them to a greater proficiency:

Twilight Sparkle had both a mental aptitude, but also a talent.
Rarity can not only perform kinetic effects, but can also do limited material morphs (like she did with the tree bits in that storm episode) and some illusory effects as well as locating gemstones.
Shining Armor might match Twilight's skill under other circumstances, but his talent likely lay in protection, and his training probably tended towards martial skills, and his duties precluded academic studies.
